Xristina Marie is a 23-year-old self-proclaimed foodie & aspiring chef.
Born in the New York City area to a Greek immigrant father and a Greek-American mother, food was always a large part of my life. Since age 3, I have been using my mother’s pots and pans to stir up concoctions with whatever I could find in the pantry. At age 17, I moved away from home to attend college where my love for traveling and curiosity about the world led me to the Southwest; Phoenix, Arizona. I also enrolled in summer classes in Miami, Florida where my love for regional cuisine began to flourish. From that point on, I knew my passion was in food.
A recent graduate from Arizona State University, I received a BIS (Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies) in Mass Communication and Design Studies, two disciplines that help showcase my creative talents. Like other interdisciplinary students, I developed the intellectual tools needed to build bridges across academic disciplines and apply my skills, innovations and knowledge in various academic and practical settings. Since graduating, I have chosen to continue my journey towards a higher education and after much thought decided to apply for culinary school.
My background in the arts and my wide range of multimedia skills combined with my attention to detail made food blogging a natural progression for me. I consider it the perfect outlet because it continuously inspires me to create.
I dream of one day owning several restaurants, writing cookbooks and even having my very own cooking show; but, for now I will be fulfilling my love and passion for all things food through my blog, The Refined Palate!
